The Subprime Swindle

I just read an excellent article in this week's edition of The Nation magazine that I want to share with you. It gives an in-depth history of how the current subprime crisis came to be, and a good summary of proposals to deal with it. The article focuses on how the mortgage meltdown has hit minority communities especially hard, told in part through the story of the Mitchells, an African-American family struggling to keep their Atlanta home.

Last night, Barack Obama crossed the threshold of delegates needed to secure the Democratic presidential nomination. And although Hillary Clinton has not yet officially conceded, the headlines of today's papers and the cable news pundits all say the same thing-- Barack Obama will be our nominee.
