I remember watching Sound of Music when I was a child and feeling my heart race as the Von Trapp family made its escape from Nazified Austria. I could never have imagined that a day would come when those wanting to leave the United States would be forced to "make a run" for the border to evade a myriad of obstacles placed by an American government in the path of those who wished to exercise their fundamental human right to emigrate.

That day has not yet arrived. But it will on January 14.

The question must be asked: What did they know and when did they know it?

The case OF incompetence hinges on it.

The Administration holds up heirs of incompetence concerning everything they have their hands on. Be it from pre-9/11 intelligence, ground zero environment, estimates on al-Qaeda and their leaders, Torah Bora and the escape of OBL, proliferation of fissionable materials(especially in N. Korea), estimates of WMD's in Iraq, outing of a covert agent, FEMA/Katrina response, Abramoff/K. Street lobbying, privatization of the military... This is just a start, NO?

They knew that Iraq was going to be costly, both in man power needed and the resulting chaos that would have sprung from any attempt to invade.

1999 war games foresaw problems in Iraq

The U.S. government conducted a series of secret war games in 1999 that anticipated an invasion of Iraq would require 400,000 troops, and even then chaos might ensue.
In its "Desert Crossing" games, 70 military, diplomatic and intelligence officials assumed the high troop levels would be needed to keep order, seal borders and take care of other security needs.

The documents came to light Saturday through a Freedom of Information Act request by the George Washington University's National Security Archive, an independent research institute and library.

Who do they think they are? And more importantly, who does our Congress think they are by allowing this hubris to even exist? Reprehensible behavior like this is not, NOT(!) an American Value.

In an Daily Kos diary last summer I defined the relentless Republican assault upon our Constitutional form of government, our voting rights, our civil liberties, and on the very air we breathe and water we drink as an American Holocaust. The response was deafening silence, broken only by criticism from a few people who seem to consider the mass murder of European Jews to be some sort of sacred historical icon, which must be kept pure and undefiled by never mentioning it in comparison to anything, anywhere, at any time. I was accused of "using" the deaths of six million human beings in the Nazi death camps as a cheap rhetorical device and was lectured about "going too far" with a "bad analogy."

On this eve of Karmageddon, I,m going to defy the self-appointed Daily Kos Credibility Police once again (Hi. Welcome to ConyersBlog) by pointing out the harsh reality that at least 40 percent of American voters are going to vote on Tuesday for nicely-groomed and well-dressed fascists. In surreal post-9/11 America, these fascists call themselves Republicans, and that familiar label renders them immune from any form of accountability in the minds of nearly half the electorate. Their voting records and the bills they,ve passed prove that they do not even remotely resemble traditional Republicans, but they will still reap at least 80 percent of Republican votes because tens of millions of these people have ridden Reichsfuhrer Rove,s trains of Republican propaganda into concentration camps of the mind, where fear, racism, paranoia, and hatred render rational political thought impossible.

That, Daily Kos Credibility Police and any other doubters, is a political Holocaust. America's degeneration under Republican rule from the greatest democracy on earth into the People's Republic of Orwell cannot be described as anything less. But it is not the only Holocaust we are witnessing. The pervasive control of Diebold, ES& S, and Sequioa, and K-Street lobbyists over our voting process is an electoral Holocaust. The Republican bankrupting of our Treasury for generations is an economic Holocaust. The decimation of our Army and National Guard in Bush,s bloody occupation of Iraq is a military Holocaust. The ravaging of the earth, poisoning of our air and water, and destruction of the earth,s protective ozone layer is an environmental Holocaust.

Where are the death camps? Go to Baghdad. Take a stroll around that mindless factory of death. Visit the morgues overflowing with the corpses of the innocent. Go to Fallujah, where white phosphorus still burns in the nightmares of the survivors. Go to Ramadi and watch a city of 400,000 people turn into a ghost town before your eyes. Go to New Orleans, where thousands of Americans were left behind to die and GOP ethnic cleansing is being perpetrated, treacherously disguised as "hurricane relief delays."

Where are the ovens? If we do not begin to reverse global warming within ten years, this whole planet will become an oven. With ruthless efficiency and boundless greed, Republicans have gutted environmental safeguards and buried environmental activists, scientists, and the public under an avalanche of denials and corporate propaganda. We are staring at the extinction of the entire human race and life on earth itself in a Global Greenhouse Oven bought and paid for by the Republican Party and their Economic Establishment SS if we do not take Congress back and restore sanity and responsibility to our government.

Those who insist that the Nazi Holocaust was a horrific aberration so obscene it belongs in an isolated historical category beyond comparison might want to review what has been happening since Bush was appointed Lord and Master of the People,s Republic of Orwell back in 2001. The Bush White House, the Republican Congress, the DHS, the FBI, the CIA, the NSA, and the Republican Party have been ruthlessly expanding their power and are determined to destroy anyone who dares to tell the truth about them. They have not "kept us safe" from our enemies, they have become our enemies. For six years, they have stolen our elections, gutted our Constitution, broken our laws, betrayed our soldiers, and bankrupted our country. They aren't waging a war on terror, they are waging a war against the truth itself, and hundreds of millions of progressives, environmentalists, working class people, and the poor in every nation in this world have been the victims.

This criminal president and his Republican bootlickers in Congress have wreaked one Holocaust after another on our Constitutional form of government, our laws, our civil liberties, our economy, our military, our self-respect, and our very identity as Americans. George Walker Bush, Richard Bruce Cheney, and every bought and paid for partisan mercenary of that mind killing Rovian Auschwitz called the Republican Party will face judgment. Robocalls will not save them. Diebold will not save them. A billion absentee ballot votes from every demon in Hell will not save them.

They will find no refuge.

There will be no forgiveness.

They will be indicted on November 7.

U.S. Web Archive Is Said to Reveal a Nuclear Primer

Last March, the federal government set up a Web site to make public a vast archive of Iraqi documents captured during the war. The Bush administration did so under pressure from Congressional Republicans who had said they hoped to "leverage the Internet" to find new evidence of the prewar dangers posed by Saddam Hussein.

But in recent weeks, the site has posted some documents that weapons experts say are a danger themselves: detailed accounts of Iraq,s secret nuclear research before the 1991 Persian Gulf war. The documents, the experts say, constitute a basic guide to building an atom bomb.

Officials of the International Atomic Energy Agency, fearing that the information could help states like Iran develop nuclear arms, had privately protested last week to the American ambassador to the agency, according to European diplomats who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the issue,s sensitivity. One diplomat said the agency,s technical experts "were shocked" at the public disclosures.

The documents, roughly a dozen in number, contain charts, diagrams, equations and lengthy narratives about bomb building that nuclear experts who have viewed them say go beyond what is available elsewhere on the Internet and in other public forums. For instance, the papers give detailed information on how to build nuclear firing circuits and triggering explosives, as well as the radioactive cores of atom bombs.

"For the U.S. to toss a match into this flammable area is very irresponsible," said A. Bryan Siebert, a former director of classification at the federal Department of Energy, which runs the nation,s nuclear arms program. "There,s a lot of things about nuclear weapons that are secret and should remain so."

The government had received earlier warnings about the contents of the Web site. Last spring, after the site began posting old Iraqi documents about chemical weapons, United Nations arms-control officials in New York won the withdrawal of a report that gave information on how to make tabun and sarin, nerve agents that kill by causing respiratory failure.

The director of national intelligence, John D. Negroponte, had resisted setting up the Web site, which some intelligence officials felt implicitly raised questions about the competence and judgment of government analysts. But President Bush approved the site,s creation after Congressional Republicans proposed legislation to force the documents, release.

On March 16, after the documents, release was approved, Mr. Negroponte,s office issued a terse public announcement including a disclaimer that remained on the Web site: "The U.S. government has made no determination regarding the authenticity of the documents, validity or factual accuracy of the information contained therein, or the quality of any translations, when available."

On April 18, about a month after the first documents were made public, Mr. Hoekstra issued a news release acknowledging "minimal risks," but saying the site "will enable us to better understand information such as Saddam,s links to terrorism, weapons of mass destruction and violence against the Iraqi people." He added: "It will allow us to leverage the Internet to enable a mass examination as opposed to limiting it to a few exclusive elites."

In September, the Web site began posting the nuclear documents, and some soon raised concerns. On Sept. 12, it posted a document it called "Progress of Iraqi nuclear program circa 1995." That description is potentially misleading since the research occurred years earlier.

The Iraqi document is marked "Draft FFCD Version 3 (20.12.95)," meaning it was preparatory for the "Full, Final, Complete Disclosure" that Iraq made to United Nations inspectors in March 1996. The document carries three diagrams showing cross sections of bomb cores, and their diameters.

On Sept. 20, the site posted a much larger document, "Summary of technical achievements of Iraq,s former nuclear program." It runs to 51 pages, 18 focusing on the development of Iraq,s bomb design. Topics included physical theory, the atomic core and high-explosive experiments. By early October, diplomats and officials said, United Nations arms inspectors in New York and their counterparts in Vienna were alarmed and discussing what to do.

So we see here a rush to acquit themselves of blame, or to exonerate themselves of misjudgment concerning Iraq's WMD program, depends on how they were examining themselves in this situation. But in doing so, exposed the world to the potentiality of a rogue nation or terrorist group obtaining this information by simply downloading it from a public web page. Can the Administration guarantee that this information didn't reach the enemy or a rogue nation? Can they? No, they can not. Keep that in mind.

Secondly, this article goes on to elaborate, in detail, the knowledge and degree to how they were warned of the sensitivity of said documents. And yet they blindly proceeded forward and published these sensitive, unresearched/investigated documents for all to see, download, copy, and pass/sell around.

Remember... Aug.6, 2001...a shot fired across the bow and not heeded.

Congressman Conyers, when is it not Treasonous to supply or make available, to your known enemy, information that can be used against your own countrymen? When it is used against you? Is this what the silence is all about? Are we waiting for the "MUSHROOM CLOUD" so that we're taken aback, dismayed and bewildered, shocked into submission so as to seem silly to even question, "How the hell?" Least we be labeled "conspiracy theorists"?

Nuclear Lab Breach Could Be 'Devastating'

(CBS) The recent security breach at Los Alamos National Laboratory was very serious, with sensitive materials being taken out of the facility - possibly including information on how to deactivate locks on nuclear weapons, officials tell CBS News.

Officials say there is no evidence the information taken from Los Alamos was sold or transferred to anybody else, but there is no way to be sure right now.

As CBS News correspondent Sharyl Attkisson was the first to report, secret documents apparently taken from the lab were found during a drug raid at a Los Alamos-area home last month. The FBI was called in to investigate.

Multiple sources now tell CBS News that the material includes sensitive weapons-design data.

A federal official who has been briefed on the issue said at least three USB thumb-drives were involved. Those small storage drives contained 408 separate classified documents ranging in importance from Secret National Security Information (pertaining to intelligence) to Secret Restricted Data (pertaining to nuclear weapons).

All of the information came from the classified document video media vault inside the Lab. Federal officials also found 228 pages - printed front and back - of classified documents in the drug trailer during their investigation.

"None of the documents in question were classified Top Secret," read a statement released by the lab. "None of the materials included any of the most sensitive nuclear weapons information."

But one federal official recently briefed on the issue says "It's devastating." If a nuclear weapon were stolen, the information "would tell the terrorists everything they need to do to get a weapon to fire."

Sources say she also had something called Sigma-15 clearance allowing her to access to documents explaining how to deactivate locks on a nuclear weapon.

She also had top secret "Q-clearance" with access to all the U.S. underground nuclear test data. Quintana has not been arrested or charged. Her attorney says she took the material home to work and then forgot about it.

For example, if a terrorist steals an American nuclear weapon, he could not detonate it due to the special access controls. This woman is authorized to read the reports that tell how to get around those safety controls.

Only the FBI will be able to tell for sure what's on the thumb drives, but British security officials are worried that design plans for Trident nuclear weapons are among the stolen documents. They are making inquiries of U.S. officials. Britain used to test its nuclear weapons in the United States, and data on those tests may have been held at Los Alamos.

Besides the obvious being that the room mate gets five to twenty for possession, the Los Alamos worker is not arrested for the unlawful removal of sensitive data/information/documents. During this day and age, I would think that she would have been hustled off and immediately "DUNKED" Cheney style in Gitmo. Especially since the fact remains, in that lab, she would have had to check out this information, so I would at least be curious about who her partner in crime was. Wouldn't you? Maybe I just have too high an expectation of the BushCo "take-em away" plan, NO?

Now, the troubling similarity to both incidents happening on the same day begs to be asked.

Are these two incidents related? A really, really good day for the FBI? Or a rouse to divert attention from the heart of the matter...That Bush authorized the publication of documents, against better advisement, that could come back to haunt each and every one of us? How much unsecured proliferated material is estimated to be "LOST"?
