I launched my online push for single payer universal health care on April the 24th, introducing a statement of support [1] for my bill H.R. 676.  I am pleased to say that we have already attracted over 12,500 signatures and the number is growing.

I also had a health care forum on the Hill on the 24th and we were lucky to have had 18 Members of Congress participate including the chairmen of the Commerce and Financial Services committees, two panels with extensive jurisdiction over health care.  House Democratic Caucus Chairman Rahm Emanuel also attended the event which featured a number of health care experts making presentations on universal health care.

The time has come for us to finally address the urgent matter of providing health care to all Americans.  I believe we have made some promising steps forward in these past couple weeks and I look forward to more good things to come.
